Connecting Peruvian Cocoa with the Global Market
SIPPO Peru participated in the Chocoa fair alongside its partners PROMPERÚ, Agromercado, and APPCACAO to boost the commercialization of this emblematic product in global markets.

Through Agromercado, strategic meetings were led to strengthen the connection between small Peruvian producers and international buyers of fine aroma cocoa. Meanwhile, PROMPERÚ stood out at Chocoa with a booth that brought together eight companies representing key cocoa-producing regions, including Amazonas, Cusco, Junín, Ayacucho, and San Martín. During the event, specialized tastings, meetings with international buyers, and key activities took place to reinforce Peru’s position as a global benchmark in the cocoa sector.
Peru has established itself as a key player in the global production of high-quality cocoa, known for its fine aroma attributes and organic certifications, which stand out in a highly competitive market.
As part of Chocoa, a key event for sustainable cocoa and chocolate, archaeologist Quirino Olivera, consultant for SIPPO Peru, presented the lecture "The Great Spiral of Montegrande and the Origin of Cocoa in the Amazon of Peru, South America." In his presentation, Olivera shared his research on the origins of cocoa at Huaca Montegrande, Cajamarca, highlighting over 5,300 years of history and Peru's deep-rooted connection with this ancestral crop.
SIPPO Peru and its partners' participation in Chocoa 2024 reaffirms their commitment to promoting Peruvian cocoa in international markets, highlighting its quality, sustainability, and historical legacy.
